A week ago today, TripAdvisor presented its prizes to the best islands in the world and Mallorca got quite magnificent results: first in Spain, second in Europe and sixth in the world. It's the first time that the island has made it into the World's Top Ten! We do not of course, wish to cast any doubt on the merit of the other islands (Maui, Santorini, Jamaica...) that were acknowledged and awarded by TripAdvisor, but here are our own reasons for which Mallorca should always be among the best islands in the world:
-Its monuments: the island of Mallorca boasts hundreds of historic buildings of great beauty, which are all well worth visiting: the cathedral of La Seu, the Castell de Bellver, the Real Cartuja of Valldemossa and an infinite etc.
Visiting the Castell de Bellver and enjoying its corners and view is among the best plans one can make in Palma de Mallorca.
-Its capital: Palma was chosen as the best city in the world to live in by the British newspaper The Times, for its historic town centre, the harbour avenue, all of its monuments and its wide range of choice in culture, gastronomy, festivities and night life.
-Its villages: besides Palma de Mallorca, there are countless villages on the island that will woo any and every visitor to venture off the beaten track. These of course include Valldemossa, Pollença, Estellencs, Campos, Santanyí...
-The sea: the Mediterranean is a peaceful sea with warm waters and a wealth of natural heritage. In Mallorca you can make the most of its landscapes and its beaches.
There are more than 300 beaches in Mallorca!
-Range of choice: Mallorca has been devoted to tourism since the 60s which has contributed to the island's development of a broad range of choice for its visitors: cycling holidays, sailing, yachting and water-sports, golf, adventure sports, night life, culture, country-side tourism...
- For all these reasons, and many more, Mallorca is the best island in the world!
