The bustling resort of Alcudia was once a Roman settlement and the remnants of its Roman origins can still be seen as the old town of Alcudia is surrounded by an almost complete wall dating back to the 14th century. Alcudia today is a sophisticated resort where an inviting array of boutiques, shops, bars and restaurants line the gentle sweep of the bay. The old town of Alcudia is certainly worth a visit, with parts of the town dating back to around 1300. There is a very colourful market which is held every Sunday and Tuesday where you can sample the traditional Mallorcan produce.
Alcudia’s water park with its giant water slides, swimming pools, and three mini-golf courses is a great choice for a family day out. For those who enjoy a round golf then the Alcanada Golf club is only a short drive away.
The main fiesta in Alcudia takes place in June where a procession of decorative boats, carrying a statue of the patron saint sails in the bay of Alcudia. If your holiday falls around the July 25th then you will be able to experience the fiesta of Saint James, the patron of Alcudia with concerts, open-air dances and religious ceremonies that allow you to experience the Mallorcan and Spanish way of life.
